The Gondola 110567
This project was started in the winter of 2007 and completed in the spring of 2008. This was our first attempt at building a car. We started by ordering a frame kit, trucks and couplers from Mountain Car Company of Virginia.

With no heat in the garage, a frigid winter and anxious to get started dad and I got the bright idea of moving a small drill press into the dining room along with enough other tools to build this frame.

The night was over and we had what resembled a train car. Time to build a piece of track.

As soon as the weather broke and after reading hundreds of articles on Discoverlivesteam.com some track was built and the frame was primed. Next steps were to fabricate a body. So I made one out of cardboard and turned to my friend Jay and his fabricating and welding skills.

After some cutting, grinding and welding we finally had a body on our frame. Next was time for painting. Although Jay is a good painter he was not available so I turned to my friend Mike. After Mike was done I had a beautifully painted black hopper. It was time for the final touch. That was some vinyl graphics that was purchased from MiracleGraphics.com

And that's the story of my first 7.5" Gauge car.
